March 18th,1862

Bellefontaine, Oh March 18th 1862

My dear wife and children,

Upon arriving at this place I met Col. Moody and he informed me that one company started to St. Louis Monday Morning. He detained me here to help assist in gathering up those who were out on furlough and a couple of deserters.
We shall not leave here until Friday. My back is a great deal better than it was when I left home, my cough is not much better, but I am going to get some medicine for it and I think I shall be better in a few days. Direct your letters to C.M. Adams

Good bye all,

  1. Captain John B Myers would play a prominent role in the loss of the 13th Ohio Battery at the battle of Shiloh and leave the Army in disgrace.
